About the Author

David Befus grew up in Puerto Rico, and returned to work in Latin America after finishing his undergraduate degree in mathematics at Wheaton College. Through a project assignment in a slum community, he began to study how to utilize business to help the poor, and made this the focus of his MBA study at the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business Administration. He first applied these concepts through international consulting for government and international agencies, and complemented this practical work with a Ph.D.in development economics at University of Miami. He then directed job creation projects for Opportunity International, World Relief, and World Vision, and helped start a micro finance programs in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. He currently lives in Lakeland Florida, where he is providing on-going consulting assistance for job creation programs in Mexico, Haiti, Latin America, and Africa. He is available to provide workshops on this topic for your organization, as well.
